Terms and Conditions for Man With A Van Uxbridge

Loading items into a moving van during a service bookingThese Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Man With A Van Uxbridge provides domestic, commercial, and specialist transport services in the UK. By making a booking, the customer agrees to these terms and confirms that they have read and understood the conditions that apply to the service. For the avoidance of doubt, references to “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the service provider, and references to “you” and “your” refer to the customer or any person acting on the customer’s behalf.

These terms are designed to create clarity about how bookings are arranged, how payments are handled, what happens if a booking is cancelled or changed, and how liability is managed. They also explain the rules that apply where waste, recyclable materials, or unwanted items are included as part of the service. If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.

Vehicle and moving equipment prepared for a man and van jobBy placing a booking with our man and van service in Uxbridge, you confirm that you are legally able to enter into a contract and that all information supplied is accurate and complete. You also confirm that you have authority to request the service for the relevant address, premises, or items involved. If you are booking on behalf of another person or business, you accept responsibility for ensuring that they are aware of these terms.

Booking Process

All bookings are subject to availability and are only confirmed once we have accepted the request. A booking may be made by providing the required details, including the collection and delivery locations, item description, access conditions, preferred date and time, and any special handling requirements. We may rely on the information provided by you when preparing a quotation or allocating a vehicle and crew.

Where an estimate is given for a man with van job, it is based on the information available at the time of quotation. If the actual service differs from the description provided, or if additional labour, time, parking, waiting, dismantling, or loading requirements are required, the price may change accordingly. We reserve the right to amend the quotation before or during the service where reasonable and necessary, particularly if the scope of work has increased.

Any special instructions should be provided in advance, including details of fragile items, narrow access, stairs, no-parking restrictions, restricted loading bays, or items requiring two-person handling. You must ensure that the collection and delivery points are accessible and that any necessary permissions for parking, access, or entry have been arranged in advance. We are not responsible for delays caused by inaccurate information, lack of access, or the failure to secure permission where it is required.

Customer goods being handled carefully for transportWhere a booking involves furniture, appliances, office equipment, or other large goods, you must ensure that items are suitably prepared for transport unless we have agreed to provide packing or dismantling services. This includes emptying drawers, removing loose parts, securing doors, and protecting delicate surfaces. We may refuse to move items that we reasonably consider unsafe, unsuitable, or likely to cause damage to persons, property, or vehicles.

We reserve the right to decline or cancel any booking that is unlawful, unsafe, or incompatible with our service standards. This includes, without limitation, items that are prohibited by law, items that present a contamination or health risk, or loads that exceed the agreed weight, size, or vehicle capacity. In such cases, any charges already incurred may still be payable.

Booking confirmation may be provided verbally, electronically, or in writing. However, until we have confirmed the booking, no contractual obligation arises on our part to provide the service at the requested time. We may subcontract parts of the work where necessary, provided that the service is delivered to a reasonable standard and in accordance with these terms.

Payments and Charges

Unless otherwise agreed in advance, payment is due on completion of the service and must be made using the payment method specified at the time of booking. We may require a deposit or advance payment to secure a booking, particularly for high-value, long-distance, timed, or weekend services. Any deposit paid is usually deducted from the final balance, subject to the cancellation terms set out below.

All prices are quoted in pounds sterling and may be subject to VAT where applicable. Charges may include time spent loading and unloading, travel time, waiting time, parking fees, tolls, congestion charges, disposal costs, and additional labour if required. If the work extends beyond the estimated duration due to circumstances outside our control, further charges may apply at the rate notified to you.

Payment must be made in full without set-off, withholding, or deduction unless required by law. If a payment is declined, delayed, or disputed without reasonable grounds, we may suspend further work, retain the goods in our possession where lawful, or charge administrative costs associated with recovery. You agree to reimburse any reasonable costs incurred by us in pursuing unpaid sums, including collection fees and legal expenses where permitted.

Any discounts, promotional rates, or special offers are offered at our discretion and may be withdrawn at any time. They apply only to the specific booking or period stated and cannot be transferred, exchanged, or combined unless expressly allowed. A revised quote may be issued if the service requirements change after the original estimate has been provided.

Waste collection items arranged for lawful removalWe may charge additional fees where the service is delayed by factors outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to traffic disruption, restricted access, the absence of the customer, repeated failed attempts to contact the customer, or the need to wait for keys, access codes, or third-party permissions. These charges reflect the actual cost of providing the service and the time reserved for your booking.

Where the service includes removal of items for disposal, any waste transfer, tipping, or recycling charges may be passed on to you where they are applicable. It is your responsibility to disclose in advance whether items are waste, recyclable materials, or reusable goods so that the correct service and pricing can be applied.

Cancellations, Amendments, and Delays

You may request to cancel or amend a booking by notifying us as soon as possible. Cancellation charges may apply depending on the notice given and the resources already allocated. If a booking is cancelled after vehicle dispatch, on arrival, or after work has begun, you may be charged a proportion of the full price, together with any reasonable costs already incurred.

If you wish to change the date, time, collection point, delivery point, or scope of the service, we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request, but we cannot guarantee availability. Any amendment may result in a revised price. Confirmed bookings may be rescheduled only if we agree to the change and if the new arrangement remains operationally feasible.

We may cancel or postpone a booking where circumstances make it impossible, unsafe, or unreasonable to proceed. This includes vehicle breakdown, severe weather, staff illness, traffic disruption, safety concerns, or events beyond our control. In such cases, we will aim to notify you promptly and offer a reasonable alternative date or time where possible. We will not be liable for losses caused by such unavoidable disruption, except where the law requires otherwise.

If you are not present at the agreed collection or delivery time and no alternative arrangement has been made, we may treat the booking as a cancellation by you and charge accordingly. Any waiting time may be chargeable whether or not the service is completed. It is your responsibility to ensure that someone is available to authorise the work, release the goods, or receive the delivery if required.

Liability and Property

We will take reasonable care when handling your property, but you acknowledge that transport and manual handling always carry some risk. We are not responsible for pre-existing damage, defects, poor packaging, hidden faults, or damage caused by inherent fragility of the items moved. Where an item is particularly valuable, delicate, antique, or irreplaceable, you should inform us in advance and consider arranging specialist cover.

Our liability for loss or damage arising from our negligence, if established, is limited to the lesser of the repair cost, replacement value, or the amount paid for the relevant service, unless the law requires a different measure. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

You are responsible for ensuring that all items are adequately prepared for transit and that any hazardous, illegal, or improperly packed goods are not included in the load. We will not be liable for damage caused by items that were unstable, overfilled, unsecured, leaking, or unsuitable for transport. If we agree to move such items at your request, that agreement does not remove your responsibility for how they were presented to us.

We are not liable for delay or failure to perform where the cause is outside our reasonable control, including adverse weather, road closures, accident, fire, theft by third parties, or interruption to access at the collection or delivery point. In any such case, our obligation is limited to taking reasonable steps to complete the service or to arrange an alternative where practicable.

You must inspect items promptly upon delivery and notify us of any apparent loss or damage as soon as reasonably possible. Failure to report issues in a timely manner may affect our ability to investigate the matter and may limit any remedy that would otherwise be available.

Legal terms document for a UK man with a van serviceWe shall not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses, including loss of profit, loss of business, missed opportunity, or emotional distress, to the extent that exclusion is permitted by law. Nothing in these terms is intended to limit your statutory rights as a consumer where those rights apply and cannot lawfully be restricted.

Waste Regulations and Unwanted Items

Where our man with a van Uxbridge service includes removal of waste, unwanted items, or junk, the customer must accurately describe the materials to be collected. Waste must be presented in a lawful, safe, and accessible manner. You must not request disposal of prohibited, contaminated, explosive, toxic, clinical, or otherwise regulated waste unless we have expressly agreed and are properly authorised to handle it.

We operate in accordance with applicable UK waste legislation and expect all customers to comply with their own legal obligations. If you are disposing of items from a home, business, or rental property, you remain responsible for ensuring that the waste transfer is lawful and that any items handed over are genuinely waste, rather than goods still owned by a third party. We may refuse to collect items where ownership is unclear or where there is a risk of unlawful disposal.

Where a waste transfer note, receipt, or other record is required, we may provide it or request that you supply information needed to complete it. You agree to cooperate with reasonable requests relating to waste classification, description, source, or destination. Any costs arising from incorrect description, contaminated loads, or additional disposal requirements may be passed on to you.

We reserve the right to separate reusable goods from waste only where this has been agreed in advance. Items that are suitable for reuse, donation, or resale may be handled differently from general rubbish. You must not leave prohibited materials mixed in with the load, and you must disclose any sharp objects, glass, batteries, fridges, electrical items, or other regulated goods before collection.

Customer Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to ensure that the booking details are correct, the property is accessible, and the goods are ready at the agreed time. You must also make sure that any parking permits, loading permissions, key access, security clearance, or building instructions are available. If the service is delayed because these obligations are not met, you may be charged for the additional time and costs involved.

You must provide a safe working environment and disclose any risks that may affect the service, including pets, children, restricted spaces, poor lighting, broken steps, or other hazards. We may stop work if, in our reasonable opinion, the environment becomes unsafe. In such circumstances, any wasted attendance or partial work may still be chargeable.

Where our team is asked to enter a property, you warrant that you have the authority to permit entry and that the area is secure enough for the work to be carried out. We are not responsible for theft, loss, or damage caused by third parties, unsecured premises, or access left open by others.

General Provisions and Governing Law

These terms form the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the relevant service and supersede any prior discussions or communications, except where specifically incorporated in writing. No waiver of any term shall be effective unless made expressly, and any failure by us to enforce a right shall not be treated as a waiver of that right.

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any change will apply to future bookings only unless otherwise stated. The version in force at the time your booking is accepted will govern that booking, subject to any mandatory legal requirements that apply by law.

Governing law: These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, unless the law provides otherwise. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, any mandatory rights or protections available to you under applicable law will remain unaffected.

Severability: If any provision is held to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest of the agreement will remain in effect. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights where they cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
